Training

All BOISAR Volunteers are trained to National Standards - Searcher I and Searcher II.

 

Training includes eight modules:

  • Map Reading and Charting
  • Compass and Navigation
  • Safety in the Field
  • Basic Survival and First Aid
  • Global Positioning System (GPS)
  • Radio Communications
  • Lost Person Behaviour
  • Search Techniques

Training sessions are scheduled throughout the year to ensure that new members attain the required training.

 
Also, throughout the year, team training activities are scheduled.
 

BOISAR Team Members are also trained in:

  • Emergency Operations Center Management
  • Boating Safety and Water Rescue
