Educational Programs

We are dedicated to providing quality public education in order to help prevent or minimize the dangers faced in everyday situations.
We don't want to be called out on a search if we can prevent it by educating people on how to stay safe!

Hug a Tree Program

The Hug a Tree a program teaches children basic survival skills. This RCMP search and rescue initiative is helping lost children survive in the woods. The Canadian version of Hug a Tree and Survive is modelled after an American project which teaches children aged five to 12 about basic outdoor survival.

A Hug a Tree presentation involves an entertaining and educational video, along with coloring book handouts and a super talk/question and answer session from a member of our team who will arrive in uniform and with various search and rescue equipment.  The presentation takes from 1-2 hours depending on age of audience and size of group.
